CGC and the Trapezoids

15 posts in this topic

I have trouble understanding CGC's failure to take into account publisher flaws when grading. I've seen many 9.6 books miscut so badly that they are closer to triangles than rectangles. There was a Superman #28 (9.6) on the last Clink auction that had the top right portion of the book lopped off. It was an ugly book that somehow was awarded this grade. Just silly. If the factory sliced the book in half could you submit each half and still get a mint grade if it otherwise qualified? I had all of the early Western Penn Hawkmans that I bought sight unseen. 9.6's and 9.8's. These books were so poorly cut that I couldn't stand the sight of them and promptly unloaded them. I've emailed CGC on the subject recently with no response. Borock did email me years ago and simply said that they don't factor in publisher's errors.

The only defect is in the buyers that let these books live.

Way back these books didn't sell and they were returned to the publisher.

I blame Diamond.

You won't be able to blame Diamond for a Superman 28....

This is a conversation for shills only.

how many shills does it take to keep a thread alive?

Redo is not a shill. His SA DC collection makes mine look like so much wood pulp.

Although I`ve just sent him an email suggesting that his first or second post on these boards not be a shrill attack either, since that`s exactly how most shills start out.
