OT - MS Walk April 19, 2009 NYC

8 posts in this topic

My 12 year old daughter has signed up for the MS Walk in NYC through her school's Junior National Honor Society chapter. She's excited about participating in her first real fundraising event, and I'm supporting her 100% in carrying on a family tradition of community service. If fact, I'll be tagging along for the walk together with the family dog!

The cause is close to home for us because one of my best friends suffers from this terrible affliction. In the last 10 years, my friend has gone from being an average, active 40-something year old avid golfer and outdoorsman to needing a scooter to get around and being unable to negotiate stairs or even get in or out of a car without assistance.

I'm not hoping to break any records here, but a donation of just a few dollars will make her feel like she's contributed to the cause and maybe make her a little more conscience of a bigger world than the day to day drama of being an almost teenager.

Here is the link to her page:

Thanks everyone!

She just reached her $100.00 goal.

I gladly donated because my wife has had MS for 5 or 6 years now. Luckily, it hasn't affected her yet to the extent it affects some people. But she still can't work. It mainly affects her cognitive skills, she gets hot easy and also tires very easily.

Good luck with the walk!

Is it a $$ per mile thing, or just a straight donation?

I just made a straight donation. I think you can pretty much choose any amount you want to donate. Just click on the link in the 1st post and it should lead you through the donation process.
