Terry Austin & Popeye

10 posts in this topic

Terry Austin was co-artist on a short story in Cerebus Jam called Squinteye the Sailor where Cerebus meets a cranky old Popeye look-alike.

I was looking into Terry Austin and found this on WIkipedia:

Popeye: He is a notorious fan of Popeye and often draws the character in crowd scenes in the comics on which he works.

Anyone know of books where these Popeye cameos can be found? ..or even better, have any scans you can post?

Terry put Popeye in the background of an Uncanny X-Men crowd scene back in the day. There was also a Pierson's Puppeteer (See Ringworld by Larry Niven) in the same crowd.

It was in the run circa issue 130 when the X-Men were offworld with Lilandra and the Imperial (Legion of Superheroes) Guard, but I haven't owned a set of X-Men in years, can't tell you for sure which issue.

Grab your stacks, look for the crowd scenes!
