For the 80th time...diff between maroon/brown 'modern' grade and..

I thought I'd seen before where 'some' people would rather have blue label over the maroon label - is there any difference in 'market value' between the two?

Here is a little secret around these here parts.... gossip.gif..Most people in the know would rather have a Red label CGC book since it was graded during the "Stringent Era" of CGC grading and many feel that if a Red Label book were to be re-submitted then chances are good that it may recieve a higher grade than originally given... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

So that means my red label 9.4 Batman 427 could come back as a blue label 9.6 or 9.8? 893whatthe.gif

It's a Catch-22. The Red Label 1977 and up books were graded tougher, but due to the period of time since grading, any book shifting or case-related damage could actually lower the grade upon resubmit.

Personally, I feel the boat has sailed on the Red Label, and the "damage risks" far outweigh any possible re-submit possibilities.

So back to my original question: assume a book has $50 guide value (and assuming normal market conditions) at 9.4 grade - what would you expect to pay for 9.4 OW/W in:

old blue label

old red/modern label

new blue label

AND would the price you'd be willing to pay change if the grade was 9.6 instead of 9.4?
