Golden age on E-bay

1 post in this topic

I noticed that a few sellers have listed a number of golden aged books on E-Bay and I assume E-Bay must be offering a free posting day. I noticed that the sellers were offering a number of books at a price of 20% or so above the price the books have recently been selling. In a rising market market this is predictable and the sellers feel no pressure to move the books. "If it doesn't sell today I will get my price next week". Looking at the list I was thinking about the books I have that are for sale and would be willing to part with if I was offered a 20% return today. If prices started falling, would the offers grow and sellers become more aggressive? Probably. My thought is how many books do collectors really wish to hold and how many are being held for speculation? The answer is Unknowable but probably more than I thought.
