What's My Subby #1 CGC 9.8 worth???

28 posts in this topic

First let me apologize for being off of the board for so long. The whole robojo33 thing was too much to stomach.

Anyway, I was just phoned by CGC and told that 6 of the books I submitted to them got a grade jump and I need to pay for the next grade level. I don't have a problem with that!

But, I have no idea what some of them are worth!

I have gone to GPA, but they don't seem to update very often or they don't recognize some site sales.

Sub-Mariner #1 CGC 9.8 WHITE $$$???

ASM #66 CGC 9.6 WHITE $$$???

ASM #86 CGC 9.6 WHITE $$$???

TTA #98 CGC 9.6 White Winnipreg $$$???

Any help is much appreciated...Thanks

Congrats!

Glad to see someone get grade jumps instead of the usual "we can't grade it 9.4 because of this, that"...( then sell it raw, see the next buyer get CGC 9.6).

CAL been there done that

One sold on Comiclink for $4K a short while back.

(shrug)

Right on. Where should I sell it? eBay, Comic Link, Pedigree, Bob Storms consignment? Seems like Comic Link is getting full pop plus for everything all of a sudden. But I can't wait a month to see the $$$

I was wrong.It didn't sell for $4K.

I was going by a tired and slightly hung over memory. Checked an old screen shot.

$2.5K

Apologies.

ComicLink is just all around smoking as a general consignment shop, Pedigree is a Marvel "specialist", although my heart would say Bob Storms. You won't go wrong with any of them. Although, if you need to sell it "right now"...any seller can probably buy it from you, but don't expect top coin (since they will in turn sell it).

In my selling history I have found a comic to be worth the HIGHEST amount someone is willing to pay for it. Regardless of what CGC or Overstreet or any of the experts or publications say. Does that help??

How do you search for a price by grade? I still can't get over the difference in price between say a 9.6 and a 9.8. I bought an Iron Man #1 in 9.8 and saw several minor flaws on the front. The back was off center. Sure it had sharp corners and white pages but I was just expecting more on a 9.8 to where I'd have to spend some serious time finding the one well hidden defect.

I sold it 9 months later for almost double what I paid. Buyer was happy.. Go figure.

The ASM 66 in 9.6 is worth around $750 present-market.

The ASM 86 in 9.6...has one sale for $1500 Jan 09...looks like a spike from the 07 avg sales price of approx. $900...a 9.4 sold in Jan 09 for $1195...

Centering doesn't factor into CGC's grading.

Thanks for the help. But that is why I don't really rely on GPA. I have been watching and recording sales of these particular books for many months, knowing mine were very high grade. I have Comic Link sales of ASM #86 in CGC 9.4 $2450.00 on 7-6-08 and a 9.6 $3600.00 on 10-30-08.....Neither of these are on the GPA site. Do they not recognize Comic Link sales?

That was debated in the past week or so here, but as I understand it they do NOT report to GPA...WOW...$2450 for an 86 in 9.4...might have to put mine up in their next auction... :o

It's a hot book right now. As we all know, Black Widow makes her appearance in the next Iron Man movie. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my TOS #52 CGC 8.5 for $600 2 years ago!!!! Probably a $1500 book right now. But then again, if we all held on to our great books, we'd all be rich....
