whats wrong with the hulk? (shrug)

Here's a scan of it - you tell me if you'd pay $450 for it.

Does it look VF/NM to you? :screwy:

Well the question is, did you base purchasing these books on these scans, or were there a different set of scans? The X-Men book looks 4.0, and that would probably be a stretch.

These are my pics and scans, not the ones I saw before purchase.

So I am assuming these arent the books you bid on. He sent you some other copies? And when you E-mailed him he said?

That's where the long drawn-out part starts. I sent a nice e-mail as the seller claimed I could return the books if I didn't agree with his grade. I got no reply, and didn't for 3 weeks. After FLOODING the e-mail, I got some sob-story about how the guy I was dealing with was shot while on vacation in Russia (I jokingly presume with my money) and died. I talked with his "father" presumably through e-mail and was promised that restitution would be made, and gave him my address. I got a package with an even crappier reprint X-comic in it, and the return address was made out in the NAME OF THE GUY WHO SUPPOSEDLY DIED. His "father" didn't have the same name, so I guess his still-warm corpse made that stuff out?

It was bad situation all around... but for what I lost, it wasn't worth getting on a plane and going to his door. I'm not sure if I could have called the cops in Houston..... I chalked it up to experience and moved on.

But, I do have his address in my wallet, just in case I ever find myself in Houston.

That's nutso. I assume the long-drawing-out made it too late to file a PayPal claim? How were the scans on ebay? Were they pretty big? As in, do you suspect the seller of putting up false scans, or were they just too small?

Lately, for comics of any real value that have only small scans of the front cover, I've been asking sellers to email me larger scans, and any info about condition. If a seller refuses, or just ignores me, I don't bid. With the comics I'm looking for, there's always another auction coming up.

Correct - that's part of the "experience" I learned. And I didn't use a credit card... doh!

Oh, he screwed me, - the book was supposed to receive was described as VF (not NM like I said earlier, sorry) and looked VF+ to VF/NM by the pic I received.

And my auctions always have the line "if you have any questions or would like scans of the comic, feel free to e-mail me..." I know that people who are serious demand certain things, and can always go elsewhere to get them if I don't have what they need.

*EDIT* The names used in this scam were Edward Johnson, Matt Edwards, and the eBay ID's name was Matt Crowell. I still have a copy of the letter I sent off to the FBI's Internet Fraud department a few years back, of which I never heard anything from - not even a letter of acknowledgment...
