ANOTHER CRAIG LIST HORROR STORY

54 posts in this topic

when I moved to another city, I sold most of the stuff in the apartment on Craigslist rather than move it. even stuff like pots & pans

it always surprised me when young women would come to my apartment alone, or sometimes with a female friend.

they did not know me, I was just some stranger from craigslist.

just to get a garage sale price on some junk I did not want to move

the fact I was in a fairly expensive building with a concierge probably helped though

remember that Med student that lured strippers to his hotel room???

The girl's family is suing Craigslist.

Several States are going to ban Criagslist because they don't screen advertisers???

Craigslist will also cease someday soon

anti-trust law will prevent that from ever happening

that means every print newspaper would have to screen every classified advertisers to give equal treatment to craigslist

I would have laughed in his face as soon as I saw the moderns, and then I would have made a run for it.

I would have got in his face and berated him for dragging me all the way out there to see his krap. Then I would've b-slapped him and demanded he hook me up with some gas money and an extra $20 for inconveniencing me. Then I would backhand b-slap him one more time for good measure. Then I would have made a run for it. (thumbs u

yeah, never bring money to one of these things unless you have a buddy who is an off duty copy or something acting as an escort. not to mention, never have them bring the stuff to your house.

i actually have been 2 for 2 on craigslist so far -- most recent was last weekend when i picked up a longbox of mid 50`s to bronze readers -- nothing great , best was probably a couple of vg or so Superman annuals and some mid 60`s detectives along with 2 long boxes of modern books and a stack of early savage swords -- not the greatest pick-up but -- hey , price was right

Craiglist sketches me out, but I love reading those "missed encounters" people post.

Or in their basement that floods occasionally. But just air dry them, mix them with some moderns, and re-sell.

Everybody should stay off Craigslist, especially in DC. You'll never find any comics there.

lol

I've done ok on Criagslist. I picked up this and these from Craigslist from US residents, and a few other local pick-ups. The shipped deals were a little unnerving as both sellers were not really experienced with shipping stuff that could damage easily. I made sure I did some checks on them beforehand - nothing extensive, but most importantly made sure the numbers and names matched up to a living person. The large silver-age collection was a bit of a risk due to the distance, but it panned out and both were really nice finds, as were the local ones.
