Bay Shore 7-Eleven Owner Copper Age collection

44 posts in this topic

I started this thread originally here:http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3358439&fpart=1and decided to start selling them individually on the boards. I will ship via First Class or Priority Mail and any purchases over $60 gets free shipping. I would prefer PayPal but can also take checks/money orders, Etc.PM's are OK but the first :takeit: gets the book! I am going to do my best to grade the books using the Overstreet Grading guide and my own experience but cannot guarantee grades. However, if you are unhappy with the grades or books you can send them back to me for a full refund as long as they are received in the same condition. All the books pretty much have White pages. Only a few were stored with backing boards..so some of them suffered some spine stress, but the majority are in the 9.2 to 9.8 range. I'm IVEGOTNEATSTUFF on eBay if ya want to check my feedback.I will also discount them from Overstreet and GP Analysis pricing as a sort of "Board Discount" ... deducting what I would pay on eBay, grading fees, time, etc.. I am just going to start with one box and work my way through pretty much alphabetically. As there are sometimes multiple copies of the issues, I am putting a code number next to the books such as 711-001, so please reference this code number when indicating what you want so I know which of the copies to send you. (The pic below isn't the Bay Shore 7-Eleven..just a cool old pic I found)

Bay Shore, NY "7-Eleven collection"

002.jpg

I regularly check my paper for yard sale announcements with comics mentioned in the listing and saw one a few weeks ago that seemed interesting. When I arrived the entire comic collection was still there (he told me he hadn't really sold any yet).. all bagged w/o boards and in 9 long boxes. I asked him if he was the original owner and he told me, no...that his mother was the original owner. He explained to me that his family owned the 7-11 store in Bay Shore Long Island, New York in the 80's.. and every time a new shipment of comics came in, she would take 1 to 10 of the issues home, bag and store them (depending on how interesting they seemed to her I guess). It looks like she did this from about 1982 to 1987.. and it covers DC and Marvel. I asked him "...was that before or after they were put on display?", and he told me "before". This obviously meant to me 100's of kids hadn't gotten Slushie fingerprints all over them first. After flipping through them and seeing about 8 copies of each of the Secret Wars series - including #8 - pop out at me...all in what looked to me to be very high grade.. I decided to buy the entire lot, as I thought anyone that had seen these books before me would have definitely grabbed these ones first...so it told me the collection was not cherry picked. There are about 2,250 books in all based on 250 books per box.. scan0054.jpg004.jpg**************************************Without further ado! 2010 (Movie Adaptation - 1985)#1INV# - 711-0099.2 condition $2.00th_scan0020.jpgth_scan0021.jpg2010 (Movie Adaptation - 1985)#1INV# 711-0108.5 condition$1th_scan0022.jpgth_scan0023.jpg2010 (Movie Adaptation - 1985)#2INV# 711-0118.0 condition$1.00th_scan0024.jpgth_scan0025.jpg2010 (Movie Adaptation - 1985)#2INV# 711-0118.5 condition$1.25th_scan0026.jpgth_scan0027.jpgTop Dog #1 1984Star ComicsINV 711-0039.2 condition$2.00th_scan0007.jpgth_scan0008.jpgTop Dog #21984INV 711-004Star Comics9.0 condition$1.50th_scan0009.jpgth_scan0011.jpgWally the Wizard #1Star ComicsINV 711-0059.6 condition(This is not the variant)$5th_scan0012.jpgth_scan0013.jpgWally the Wizard #2Star ComicsINV 711-0068.5 condition$1.00th_scan0014.jpgth_scan0015.jpgWally the Wizard #3Star ComicsINV 711-0079.0 condition$1.00th_scan0016.jpgth_scan0017.jpgWally the Wizard #4Star ComicsINV 711- 0089.0 condition$1.00th_scan0018.jpgth_scan0019.jpg
