I've seen the word "PLOD" used on the boards, in reference to CGC Restored Grade books...

 

What the turd does PLOD mean?

 

Purple Label of Doom

Popular expression because the purple label kills the value of the book and is a nasty surprise to many CGC submitters.

 

Oh, ok, thanks. I thought "PLOD" might be the sound of the falling purple label slab hitting the ground after being dropped by the stunned CGC submitter.

 

That's certainly happened to me. Although, I don't always mind the restored label. I believe there are certain books with certain covers that actually look really good in purple.

 

You would mind the label if you paid some serious $$ for a "unrestored" comic and CGC spotted restoration.
