can' agree more with you....what people were willing to pay some keys (or not even keys) bronze and modern books were pure lunacy for a while.

the best thing that will happen I think is a significant slow down in submission to CGC if this trend continues and all the flippers won't see a rush to submit a sub $30 books or modern books because by the time they get it back, they won't get enough to cover the cost of slabbing.

There are some discussion on the next generations of collectors and speculators and what they will buy...In my opinion, in the end they will realized it is GA, SA, and some keys Bronze are the one that mattered...the rest are pure casino gambling. Same with the SS stuff, once it turned into a factory churn of monthly events, adding 100's if not 1000's of signature books out there will dilute the "special" need about them and the incremental cost of getting those signature will not yield higher profits for the flippers. Now, for those that get them for sentimental reasons, it won't matter.

It's bad enough to see an employee talking up my favorite consignment site, now he brings in the Phillies.

Enjoy the champagne while you can.

This world series will become a launching pad of who hits the most home runs.

I thought Yankee stadium had chip shots, Philly isn't much better. Flick the bat and out it goes.

After day 2, it seems more and more apparent, the market is correcting. My wins so far:

ASM 5 CGC 5.0 OW $321

ASM 14 CGC 5.0 OW $245

Cap 195 CGC 9.8 $92

FF 6 4.5 CGC $293

G.I. Combat 87 PGX 4.0 $122

House of Secrets 92 CGC 8.0 $300

Journey into Mystery 116 PGX 7.5 $44

Wasn't that ASM 14 a pence copy though? Those traditionally fetch less, so I don't know if it could be considered a correction. The 5.5 went for close to GPA.

Yes it was. And you're correct, they do go for less than the US version. Last Pence copy sold a long time ago for a tad under 370 according to GPA.

Ok, who outbid me on the Hulk 1?

lol Not me, but I was looking at it when it was cheaper. First time I'd considered a PLOD.

I went pretty high on it but it got snipped during the last few seconds... :(

Yep. Basic economics: competition drives prices of readily produced goods down to the goods' average cost.

Every new generation of collectors/flippers repeated the same mistakes as the previous just as every new generation of investors/traders made with the stock market.

key HG books are like solid blue chip companies...you can get lucky playing the outliners but if you think you know the market(s), guess again because you will be wrong sooner or later..let just hope that when you are wrong, you didn't invest everything you have in it.

too bad not enough people understand the simple law of economics or common sense, modern books at 9.8 rare? now that is a laugh. Somewhere somebody with a box full of these "key" moderns is too stupid to unload them right now before they are back to the $1 bin.

Also noticed the ASM 39 CGC 9.4 dropped to about $2400 when GPA was at $3500 for this book.

I noticed that one as well. The soft price may have been related to the ugly grease pencil arrival date on the cover.

You know the funny thing about this book? It used to be the Ohio 9.2 which I sold in August for $2200, which was a HUGE price for a 9.2. It seems that it has now lost the Ohio designation after it was pressed and resubbed. $2200 for a 9.2 with that FUGLY grease pencil date was huge but $2700 for a 9.4 with same is pretty weak. The buyer made a few bucks but I assume considerably less than expected.
