How to learn about key issues... the CGC census way!

6 posts in this topic

Learning a little more about comics, and letting the CGC census help!

Assuming that the most-often submitted books for a title

will probably be the key issues for the title...

Here is a list of the most-often submitted books compared to all

of the other books submitted for the same title.

#1 and #2 issues are removed since those are generally important

regardless of the story/appearances/artists in the issue.

Since I'm no expert on older comics, I learned quite a bit researching these.

If you're not sure why a particular issue would be on the list,

grab an Overstreet and find out... if you're still not sure, let's discuss!

These are by no means the only important issues for these titles,

but they definitely "bubble up to the top" when you examine the CGC census.

Some of those books aren't keys, there are just many more more available copies than the surrounding issues. Almost any issue from the Mile High 2 collection falls into this category.

Not many of the books listed (outside of Thor) should be Mile High 2 books, right?

Even from the Thor's, #126 and #158 are not MH2s. #126 is the first Thor in his own title, and #158 is the 1st origin re-cap in his own title. So in this respect your list does indeed identify the key issues. Admittedly #132, #156 and #182 are as MH2'd as you can get ! 893frustrated.gif

I tried a different approach to the same idea,

using books where submissions are at least

two standard deviations away from the title average.

A few more books "bubbled up", including some titles that weren't

even listed in the first list... and possibly a few more MH2 books, too.

List #2
