The $1,000 thread! Okay, and some books priced higher and lower...THREAD CLOSED

Cool, they moved it back.

Here's one more. Classic Mac Raboy cover. This copy is a strong 8.0.

To put this book in an historical context, here's what I wrote in the Fawcett thread when I first acquired it:

The final weeks of '43 were an interesting time in the war. England was bombing the hell out of Berlin, and Hitler's resources were being heavily drained on the Russian front. Even worse, he knew an Anglo-American attack on the Western front was looming. Sure enough, in November, Roosevelt, Stalin, & Churchill met in Tehran to confirm a Spring attack on Western Europe, and hammer out the details of Project Overlord.

In preparation, Hitler sent all available Panzer divisions to the Western Front and Denmark. The small print at the bottom of The Daily Star on this cover describes the arrival of these reinforcements in Copenhagen. "3,000 German troops in full battle regalia - including tanks, armored cars, and planes - disembarked from transports and were now patrolling the capitol's streets."

It's easy to lump a cover like this into a generic and interchangeable "World War 2" cover category. In reality, what Freddy Freeman is anxiously asking you to "Read all about" is the same news that was appearing in newspapers across the world at the time.

Funny books, indeed...

There are a few in there that I'm shocked haven't sold yet.

In my case, its the fact we're one month and counting until baby arrives...and I'm being more prudent then normal when it comes to buying. Otherwise, I probably would've bought the Wonder # 2 a few weeks back when we exchanged PMs about it, and that America's Best and Thrilling are tempting too....but I'm going to try and behave.

It was when our son arrived 2 years ago May that comic money became separate from family money. I haven't used family money for comics since. Although, I have used some comic money for family.

By the way, the kid got his first look at Spider-Man the other day when he pulled the DVD for the first Spider-Man movie off the shelf. He took one look at Spidey and said "Wow..."

I generally keep them seperate too, but I'm mindful of possibly needing a back-up in case expenses start piling up from an extended hospital stay. Perhaps I'm just being overly cautious... :P

As for your son, sounds like he's got the bug already... (thumbs u :applause:

He really does. Right now he's crazy about the first Superman movie and Star Trek IV. He likes me to pick him and help him fly like Superman!

But lately he's been having nightmares about "the green man". I haven't been able to determine if he's talking about The Hulk or Shrek.
