A little rich for my blood....

The problem with history is that people tend to perceive it only as previous; that cannot see that we are swamped right dead in the middle of history right now.

Example: 30 years ago I obtained a gorgeous copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 from the bottom drawer on a end-table at a barber shop. It had probably never been read and was immaculate. I checked the guide, and the price was a whopping $25.00. I quickly found a buyer, a local collector who could afford to spend such extravagant cash on a comic book. I figured him for a sucker, after all, it was just a comic book, how much could it ever really be worth?

Example: 15 years ago I traded a full run of Xmen 93-100 for a VFN copy of FF #72 at a convention. I had bought the Xmen issues out of boredom when they first came out, never really thought much of them, and left them in the bottom of a drawer until that day. I really screwed that guy, junky Xmen for a sweet silverage FF! Right?

What will we be saying in 20 years? That we had a chance to purchase a 9.4 FF#13 for $5500.00 and we didnt do it? I think we are living in a momemnt of great opportunity here. where CGC is just becoming established and the comic collecting world is adjusting to it. Miss the boat here, and I think you miss a big one. Just about any price paid for super-rare high-grade stuff is justified, regardless of what the last 5 guys paid for theirs.

I have a little experiment for you:

I want you to take a dark colored bed sheet. Cut a piece out of it that is just big enough to cover the windshield of your car, and put it on. Make sure that the enire windshield is covered. Then, I want you to pull out of your driveway and drive foreward, just as you normally would, using only your rearview mirror as a guide.

Let me know how it works out for you.
