Could James Bond (Connery/Moore/Craig) have stopped Ozymandias' plan in Watchmen

28 posts in this topic

Had a thought while viewing the Watchmen w/ my wife the other night.

Take your pick of the three best Bonds:

Sean Connery

Roger Moore

Daniel Craig

Tell me if you think he would have either been able to stop Ozymandias before he destroyed the cities w/ Dr. Manhatten's machine(movie version) or how he would have been defeated.

Additionally, for bonus, in which act would Bond have slept w/ Silk Spectre II?

What about that Pierce Brosnan. guy?? He played Bond, James Bond for a few films as well. Connery, Moore, Pierce B., Craig. In that order sounds pretty good to me. The actor to first portray Bond was George Lazenby, correct?

I'd say Sean Connery and Roger Moore were the two best. IMHO

There was that television actor in the 50's (Barry Nelson I believe), but I am only looking at the cinema players that I like. If you prefer Pierce, use him.

Bond would have been on to Oxzzy in the second reel, as always.

interesting you started this thread today. I watched the Directors cut last night (saw the film in theatres last summer) And I have to say that, in spite of the enormous effort to give us the actual graphic novel scene by scene as we wanted it w/o butchering it into a typical superhero movie.... it still sags and droops between the signature scenes. And, just doesnt bild to a proper climax like a movie should.

So I blame ourselves, the fans. If the popular cry wasnt so pervasive, WB would have been free to try to fashion a WATCHMEN movie that worked as a movie, and let us cry ourselves to sleep. I think Id be hapier if they did that and it became a TITANIC type grosser, pleasing every demographic worldwide leading to kudos for comics... and not the way it came down: a fanatically faithful take that left too many people unenthused, confused and uninterested.

a shame.

also, do we really think Alan Moore has not watched it? Is he that maniacally stubborn?/

1. Sean Connery

2. P. Bronson

3. Daniel Craig

4. Timothy Dalton - Living Daylights and License To Kill

5. Roger Moore

6. worst - G. Lazenby

it depends with era you grew up watching and what Bond you like. I'm 36 years old. I grew up on Dalton and Bronson.

Connery was the best ever, then Bronson.

Connery and Bronson would have just killed everyone in Watchman and slept with everyone.

could Connery Bond beat Batman in a fight?

because the masks in WATCHMEN all fought at a near superpower level of training and strength. Bond was a normal guy who knew jiu jitsu, thats all.

Interesting point - as Bond has been tossed about like a rag-doll on more than one occasion (Oddjob, Jaws, etc.), but seems to always come out on top in the end against the meglamaniac. But the mad genious' are most often broken down, old guys (except Dr. No and a few others).

Could Bond have somehow used Ozymandias' ego against him?

Consider the opponents in Watchmen and give a description of how it would go down.

Connery would clearly have defeated Ozymandius. And he would have slept with Silk Spectre by the second act, and in the ending scene, probably in the owlship, with Oymandius's palace burning in the background.

For the movie series it was Connery, Lazenby, Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig. (The order they played Bond, not ranking them)

Nelson on TV and David Niven in Casino Royale (along with Woody Allen, Peter Sellers and four others also being 007 in a convoluted and less-than-funny plot) and even Sean Connery again in Never Say Never Again. All of them outside the popular film franchise.

Im going to have to say no.

Ozy hid what was happening from every one.

Usually these plots fail because there are to many leaks but in this case ther were none.

Rorchach and Owl found the base but no ide what was happening.

Even if Bond found the books he would have found nothing illegal.

Lazenby was actually a very good Bond, he just had the misfortune to come right after Sean Connery. I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond Since Connery. I grew up with Connery, Lazenby, Moore & Dalton. I can't sit through a Moore Bond anymore.
