It`s all or nothing when selling comicbooks now!

Has anybody else noticed this? the majority of comic collectors will spend thousands of dollars for a high grade CGC book or will pay a few bucks for low grade lots on Ebay but they won`t pay middle of the tier prices for mid-grade books. So its either spend a lot of money on that holy grail or buy a few readers.

Actually that has been going on quite a while and is not a new or newish phenomena. Some of this was reflected in the great 1998/1999 price shakeup.

:gossip:The average grade of all comics that still exist from 1933-1975-ish is G/VG to VG (1965-1975.)

yeah but most comics being sold are not them but the bronze age to modern age and what does the majority of comic collectors have? mid graded bronze age to modern. ;)

Not a new trend at all. Flying Donut and other astute dealers/collectors have been commenting for years that Overstreet is significantly overpriced for SA and BA books that are graded lower than NM and higher than G (or maybe VG). Try selling raw F or VF SA books on the boards, and in most cases the best you`ll do is 50% of Guide.

Totally makes sense to me. The supply of F and VF SA Marvels, particularly post-1964, is virtually infinite. So why should anyone pay up to acquire a book, when all they have to do is wait?
