How great was that book to have in hand....really? :cloud9:

I doubt my finances will ever allow such a purchase, but an unrestored FN copy of Action 1 for $317 K is a sweet pick-up. :cloud9:

At least you got to hold and look at the book.
I looked it over real close. It truly is a nice book and accurately graded IMO.

Wow, I didn't know about that crazy WEB OF SPIDERMAN sale.

Still, it's Spidey, it's a #1 issue of a long running title, and it's a 10.0

Certainly no crazier than $12,000 for New Mutants #98

It would have been funny if the reserve was ''not met'' :insane:

Yup. It was bought by John Dolomayan for an anonymous client.

Have any rumors ever come out that were more than rumors who the client was? Seinfeld? Shaq?

Nope, never found out who.

101K for an X-Men 1 CGC 9.4 is a little out there.

I think $100K seems to be the new range for the "secondary" 9.4 SA Marvel keys but it is a lot of dough.

TOS #39 CGC 9.4 that sold for about $120K on Pedigree recently.

Several 9.2 copies of X-men #1, JIM #83 have sold for over $50K.

Sales like seem to place the X-men #1 in the "correct" range, although personally, if the TOS fetched over $120K, I think the X-men #1 might fetch more at a comic auction house.

A couple more noteworthy sales.

Showcase #4 CGC 9.6 sold for over $150K (can't remember the exact number)

Marvel Mystery Comics #9 CGC 9.4 Chicorel copy sold for $107K

Hulk #1 CGC 9.2 sold for approx $120K (two separate copies)

There have also been some private sales that didn't get recorded but were astounding.

Action #1 CGC 6.0 broke an all time record for a Comic Book at auction. $317K

I don`t think it was a shock, though. If anything, it was shockingly low in many peoples` minds.

For a 6.0? I dont belive it was low.

Yeah, I knew someone was going to say that when I typed it out.

It still stands as the single largest price achieved for an auctioned comic book so I think it deserves to be on the list.

It certainly shocks Joe Public.

Joe Public is irrelevant. Anything more than $10 shocks Joe Public.

I think we should keep this thread focused on sales that shocked even you and jimjum, if such a thing even exists! :baiting:

I know of at least one person that would have outsourced the funds had they known the book could have been had for less than 400K.

How long before we see another unrestored FN copy offered for sale....
