Because green meens meen. (yea, I know how to spell mean).

Were you alive in the 60's?

I was born in 69. I didn't see these cartoons until the 70's though. I just had to designate the year because there are other Spidey cartoons

Does anyone know why so many of the bad guys in the old Spider-man cartoon from the 60s are green skinned?

well, most of them aren't "green skinned"

only one (the lizard) has green skin

that others are costumes...

Let's look at color 101...

I can only think that most of them are green because green is the complementary color

of red (the dominant color for most heros and also in Spidey's costume).

You get more "pop" when you create a color scheme based of complementary colors.

(which is a primary color matched with a secondary color on the opposite side of the color wheel).

There are three primarys Red, Blue and Yellow and three secondarys Green, Orange, and Purple.

Red is Green's complementary, Blue is Orange's complementary and Yellow is Purple's complementary.

A secondary color is created by mixing two primarys.

You also have to think that a lot of villains from that era had that atomic sickening look

to make more druid.

But I would like to believe this was more planned.

I look at the psychology behind the design of the character...

Primary colors usually mean something important,

secondary usually means something less.

With this is in mind, the creators of the character would want you to think

that the hero is greater than the villain. That is my take on it.

(thumbs u

Seems logical. Didn't anyone working on the show ever explain it?

I've read an article about this...a long time ago.

Green was a dominant color among villains in Marvel such as:

Loki

Dr. Doom

Dr. Octopus

The Vulture

Green Goblin

Mysterio

Electro etc. for a reason. I can't remember exactly what that reason is, but I do remember reading it. It was either in an Overstreet or Wizard.
