PGM: Giant Size X-Men 1

Hi - new here, hope to participate and contribute, but here's what got me here - need a grade (I understand the reliability [or lack thereof] of this).

 

I don't know the protocol, do I just drop it in, then wait, or say what I think it is?

 

I'll at least note what you should look at:

Small chipping on lower left corner.

Small abrasion on lower edge near right side

The spine isn't square - never was - came that way originally.

[This is my major 'I don't know how to grade this' issue, since most comics are not square back]

 

Ooops probably too big, I'll put in both sizes.

9.0 IMHO Needs a darker background to grade accurately.

In looking around, pressed is a technique to flatten the comic, right?

 

Are you saying this one IS pressed (it's not) or it NEEDS pressing, or it would grade 8.5-9.0 IF pressed?

Interested in starting an actual discussion - I have quite a few square bound comics - this one, as noted, is sort of compressed - does that affect the grade or not, vs. a comic where the square bound is pristine?

 

Of course - this is 'the way it comes' and that's part of the question.

1. Join the Collector's Society;

2. Get your 3 submission coupon;

3. Submit this book and two others to CGC;

4. Obtain grades;

5. Sell books for true value;

6. Stay away from your LCS or tell him you'll take no less than $750
