As far as the hypertension goes, how is your sleep? I've found that as I get older my sleep seems to be less restful than it used to be.

Sleep? :roflmao:

Lifestyle changes in the form of diet modification and aerobic exercise can help a fair bit with hypertension, but the most effective thing you can do is: DRUGS. Specifically, ones that combine an angiotensin inhibitor with a diuretic. Extremely benign drugs to take, and they really work well.

As for stress reduction overall and volunteerism in particular? :applause:

That's happening to me as well. Sucks big time as I really like my sleep and don't function well on little sleep. :(

Most people I know (myself included) are finding it increasingly difficult to sleep through the night.

I know part of it is age, but I also think that our thought patterns - and our sleep patterns - can't help but be affected by the constant visual stimulation we get from computers, TV, smart phones, cell phones, email, etc., etc., as well as the pace at which we're bombarded with information.

Tupenny, congratulations on the work you're doing with the ministry. It must bring greater meaning to your life. I've thought about doing similar charitable work but sadly I haven't acted on it.

bah.

i see this thread for what it is. a Forum de-rail.

not happy with just sending individual threads off-track, our man Toop now had decided to put forth an object lesson which is antithetical to the necessities of the hobby.

My doctor prescribed me a new girl every week.

I was skeptical at first, but even the red-head was very therapeutic.

Also a new brand of Vodka called Kettel One.

Seriously though I find going to the gym and running two miles every day really helps me relieve my anxiety which I suffer from.

hmmm, so you're adding 2 hours of community work a day to your already hectic paying work life? i guess you're shaving some of that paying work off if you're leaving at 4:30. if you have the energy and you can run all your endeavors from 8:15 to 4:30 then more power to you.

i'm confused, you run a media company, a physical therapy outfit, a real estate outfit and some sort of orange juice company? that sure sounds like a lot of multitasking! no wonder you were about to drop dead.

just toss in that you have three wives, 9 kids and are thinking of starting an indian casino and running for office and I'd think you were the father/husband in Big Love.

funny, as I approach 40 I am just the opposite. the only thing i get up for, at about 6 a.m., is to get rid of the huge glass of water I drank before going to bed. other than that i sleep fine through the night unless my 4 year old has gotten into bed with us and is kicking me. i am usually asleep within about 1-2 minutes of lights out. i understand that this is because I am literally exhausted before i fall asleep as i do not get enough sleep. i'm not saying my sleep is great and energizing..i have sleep apnea like most other thick necked guys over 35, so i'm not getting what i should out of it, but i am not consciously waking up. i tried the krappy machine my insurance provided, but i rip it off shortly after i fall asleep and if i have a stuffed up nose (which is often), it's useless.

It is about satyr avatars and satyriasis ;)

Maude from the Big Lebowski:

It's a male myth about feminists that we hate sex. It can be a natural, zesty enterprise. But unfortunately there are some people--it is called satyriasis in men, nymphomania in women--who engage in it compulsively and without joy. These unfortunate souls cannot love in the true sense of the word.
