Welcome to the first ever Survivor Series for Silver Age DC Superhero comics! Round 3

 

The goal is to determine the greatest Silver Age DC Superhero cover of all time. We will be voting off our 30 least favorite covers from the list provided.

Let's have lots of chit chat as the rounds progress.

 

This is an 11-round marathon. These rounds will last 2 days each. We'll vote off 39 in round 1, 30 in round 2, 30 in round 3, 30 in round 4, 30 in round 5, 20 in round 6, 10 in round 7, 5 in round 8, 2 in round 9, 1 in round 10, and then the final showdown to crown our champion.

Interesting facts about round 2:

 

• 18 of the last 20 were voted off.

• 7 of the first 17 were voted off.

• 9 books had only 1 vote against them: Flash 108, Green Lantern 18, Green Lantern 20, Green Lantern 40, Green Lantern 46, Showcase 11, Showcase 17, Showcase 19, and Showcase 23. No books had zero votes against.

I didn't pay that much attention to the EC and DC War votes-- how many books did they start with for those contests? Seems like 30 votes a round is leading to a bit of fatigue...

Well, I can understand why some would prefer the ECs and the DC wars, I know I do. But everyone has different tastes and I thought this would be a fun one to tackle. Unfortunately with 199 covers to start with, you've got to vote off a good number of them per round. That is, unless you want this to become a 36 round event, I know I don't.

 

To me, the contests really start to get interesting when we're down to around 20-30 covers left, that's when it gets really fun. Right now, we're just going through the basics, and slimmin this bltch down. Did I just say that?

Why is that Inferior Five Showcase on the list???

 

It's interesting to me that the early SA iconic covers are all holding their own. It will be interesting to see if some of the more dynamic Kane and Adams covers can beat them out. It's kind of an apples to oranges comparison, imo.

The way I'm looking at it is there are covers up there that never should have been put up in the first place. I enjoy voting those into oblivion.

 

I'm really, really surprised at some of the covers put up there.

I don't really care for any of the covers with multiple characters on them. JLA, B&B,Showcase....... and may they go away quickly

I can't believe the two Aquaman covers are still up there, along with so many of the Sea Devil covers.
