With great pleasure I would like to announce our final addition to our 2010 FAN APPRECIATION guest list:

Mr. Greg Rucka

Greg Rucka was born in San Francisco and raised on the Central Coast of

California, in what is commonly referred to as ‘Steinbeck Country.’ He

began his writing career in earnest at the age of 10 by winning a

county-wide short-story contest, and hasn’t let up since. He graduated from

Vassar College with an A.B. in English, and from the University of Southern

California’s Master of Professional Writing program with an M.F.A.

He is the author of nearly a dozen novels, six featuring bodyguard Atticus

Kodiak, and two featuring Tara Chace, the protagonist of his Queen &

Country series. Additionally, he has penned several short-stories,

countless comics, and the occasional non-fiction essay. In comics, he has

had the opportunity to write stories featuring some of the world’s

best-known characters—Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman—as well as penning

several creator-owned properties himself, such as Whiteout and Queen &

Country, both published by Oni Press. His work has been optioned several

times over, and his services are in high-demand in a variety of creative

fields as a story-doctor and creative consultant.

In 2010, Greg and artist J.H. Williams III's work on Batwoman in Detective

Comics earned the Best Comic Book Award from GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian

Alliance Against Defamation).

Greg resides in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, author Jennifer Van Meter,

and his two children. He thinks the biggest problem with the world is that

people aren’t paying enough attention.

You know, I was just met him the other day in Chicago. Very nice guy, and I'm only just becoming aware of the CPG phenom. Unfortunately not for June's Fan Appreciation Con (at least as far as I know), but maybe another show down the line if he's up for it and he's got a passport.

Ypsilanti, Michigan isn't far away from Toronto... hm

Just received word on some new guests - one coming all the way from Australia!:

JEFFREY "CHAMBA" CRUZ

Artist, Street Fighter Turbo

Jeffrey Cruz (known also by his pen name of Chamba) is a young man of few things. Since as early as ‘89 (the year he first consciously picked up a pencil), he’s had one main constant in his life, that constant being his love of Art and his unending passion to simply draw.

With an unused Bachelors degree of Art under his belt, he has somehow managed to land several illustrating gigs such as magazine and DVD covers and his dream job of creating artwork for comic books. Jeffrey was one of artists that illustrated the Ray Harryhausen/Bluewater Comics collaborative title “Sinbad: Rogue of Mars”.

His work with Udon comics began with several small gigs such as illustrating UFS fighting game cards, a Gamepro Magazine cover as well as the Street Fighter Alpha/Alpha Generations DVD cover art. Along the way he has done character concept work which led to his main job with UDON as the artist for the current “Street Fighter II Turbo” comic book. Born in the Philippines, raised in Melbourne, Australia, he hopes to continue living his passion of art for as long as he can.
