Bullet to the Head (aka Du Plomb dans la Tete) from Dynamite - Great Reading!

3 posts in this topic

Just wanted to give my fellow comics and comic art collectors a heads-up regarding a fantastic crime noir series which was originally published in France under the title "Du Plomb dans la Tete" (or "Lead in the Head").

In June, Dynamite Entertainment are releasing an English translation of this gripping yarn under the title "Bullet to the Head". I've read the book and found it a thrilling crime story with a pair of assassin buddies and a pair of cop buddies and a body count which grows as the story progresses with each pair trying to figure out what the hell is going on!

In 2004, the book won the award for "Best Story" at the Prix Saint-Michel comics awards and in October 2009, the property was optioned as a movie by Warner Bros. with the producers of Smallville, Millar and Gough, attached to the project. I'd love to see this come to the big screen as I think it was made for movie treatment.

I strongly recommend giving the book a try as the story and artwork are a joy to read/view - the artwork is by Colin Wilson (Blueberry, Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Battler Britton, Point Blank etc.) who did a fantastic job illustrating this thriller! You can read more about it at the Dynamite Entertainment site -

I hope you add it to your regular order or at least pick up the first issue to give it a try. By the way (and here's a quick plug), I handle the sale of Colin's original art including pages from the book which can be viewed here -

I just had a look at the plot of the John Woo movie and, apart from the title, the two are nothing whatsoever alike. You can compare them for yourself:

John Woo story - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_in_the_Head (Bullet in the Head portrays the distressing escapades of several friends cajoled, through a random act of violence, into sacrificing the idyllic innocence of youth to fanaticism and injustice of the Vietnam war.)

Dynamite series - http://www.dynamiteentertainment.com/htmlfiles/viewProduct.html?CAT=DF-Bullet_to_The_Head (Essentially, and without giving away too much, it tells the story of a contract killing of a politician by two assassin buddies who are then investigated by two cop buddies with the story involving various twists and a building body count.

It's worth a look and it's beautifully done. Having optioned it for movie treatment, I really hope that Warner Bros. eventually bring it to the big screen! Best,

Doesn't this story sound a lot like John Woo's fantastic movie "Bullet in the Head" from 1990?
