Is it me or did the seller get lucky here ?

I think it is a little high to be paying for these, considering it doesn't really say what condition the key issues are. "Fine to Mint".

However, the average price paid was about $3.00, so maybe they did get a good deal. It still seems high for a lot that size...

I think even the seller thinks that he got off lucky. In his auction he states that "optional insurance is only $1.30 because with an auction like this it is hard to determine how much it will sell for". But, he also said that he will pay for full coverage if chosen. lol. $130 covers up to $50. I think he underestimated a bit. grin.gif

Yes, the seller did get a little lucky here...

I sell runs of Uncanny from 140-something to current two to three times a year, and they usually fetch between $460-$600, with most right around $525.

But almost every time I do so I get emails the week after offering $50-100 more than the closing price if the buyer bails... so there are definitely people out there willing to pay around 700...

A little lucky? That seller got VERY lucky! We are talking about eBay prices here on overprinted modern books, and not the local comic book shop where prices are set at "book" value and you can see the books in person. These books are raw, and every other book is NOT a key. Sure the X-Men are among the most popular Marvel characters, but smart collector's that KNOW what "real" eBay prices are, KNOW that the auction in question ended at a VERY high price, in comparison to past auctions. This auction should have ended NO higher than $400, and IMO that is slightly high ($1.75 per book) for eBay prices on RAW comic books. Tis' the season to be jolly fa, la, la, la
