get a decent showcase 22...i think there is a 4.5 or 5.0 around for sale that would fit the $3000

How can you go wrong with that :cloud9:

I'd get a JIM #85 8.0 and still have $ left to spend on something else...They're hard to find at 7.5 or better.. and the books gonna be real hot coming up soon...

OR... the best TOS #65 you can get...

Those are my two choices for hot SA books of 2010...

Soooo much weeeeeeed! And chips. And some soda. Dooooooooooood.

Actually, I'd pwn the out of the guy who's currently the top bidder for the Jaime Hernandez Love & Rockets OA on Heritage right now. You ever see something in an auction that made you go "HOLY JUMPING JEHOSOPHAT I WANT THAT" and then you look at the price and you're like "HOLY JUMPING JEHOSOPHAT I NEED TO KNOCK OVER A LIQUOR STORE STAT" and then you go into an adrenaline dump phase?

Yeah, that just happened to me

I like the idea of getting an early JIM. You could get a nice, maybe 9.0, copy of #89, the all time classic cover for about 3,000 .

I'm probably in the minority, but I would buy 15 $200 books.

Yeh, probably. I'd probably get the nicest AF#15 I could, but if not...I'd probably buy 2x $1,500 books...like some of these

Avengers #4 CGC 7.0

Fantastic Four #1 CGC 2.0-2.5

Fantastic Four #5 CGC 5.0

JIM #83 CGC 4.0

JIM #85 CGC 8.0-8.5

X-Men #1 CGC 4.0

OR 3x $1,000 books...like these

Hulk #181 CGC 9.0

Fantastic Four #48 CGC 9.2

Daredevil #1 CGC 7.0

Hulk #1 CGC 2.0

Yeah, I hear you. But I'd love to get something that's way way way beyond what I've ever spent. (I guess that's pretty American Consumer of me eh?)

I know everyone wants an AF 15, but so do I. It's an awesome comic, Spider-Man's huge, great Kirby cover...what's not to love? As for Showcase 22, I do want one, if only to complete the Showcase run someday, but it's way too hot right now. I'd much rather have a SC 4. I wonder if I could swing a 'Tec 35 or 37?

JIM 83 would be sweet. Or Hulk 1.

It'd be great to get a restored key with removable restoration. I love doing that.

O, and Tag Heuer is OUT!!!

low grade AF15...ALL THE WAY or the nicest FF5 i could find

+1

It took me almost a year to find a really nice FF #5, and I gladly overpaid for it as well. (shrug)

well there's two ways to look at that. a) a very nice copy of a really classic cover or b) a not-quite-hg copy of a not-quite-key.

If 3k is the most by far that he's spent, I think he'd get more satisfaction out of a lower grade true key. the 9.0 89's and the like are for people who drop that kind of money all the time. (IMO) I stopped collecting comics before I started spending that kind of money on single items, and I know I would have gone for the best FF1 I could buy (which wouldn't be much but I'd love it anyway).
