I found that thread on the Classic Covers but I can't find the other. I know it's there somewhere because I posted in it and looked through my previous posts but I have search impotence, I guess. I think it was Dino's thread anyway so that list is as complete as there is.

How can Action 1 not be denoted a classic cover? It's just the most emulated cover of all time.

Is "classic cover" a designation that is used only for non-"key" book? Sort of a selling point for also rans?

Aside from Action 1, I see that D27, MC1, Whiz 2, Pep 22, Batman 1, Superman 1, etc., don't get the designation.

most mega GA keys don't have super great covers IMO. Like a Cap 33 is a better cover than Cap 1 IMO for example....

Agreed, GA #1s and mega-keys are not usually given "classic cover" status.

Should be noted that for many issues, CGC does not give classic cover designations consistently...that is, not all Fight 44 slabs have classic on the label.

Some random tidbits about the list:

Earliest - Detective 8 (1937)

Tripletts - Wings 89-90-91, Boy Comics 8-9-10, Science 2-3-4

Most Valuable - Detective 31 (#15 on OPG ranking) with Marvel 9 close behind

Least Expensive - Justice Traps the Guilty 56 ($36 guide in Fine)

Longest description - USA 9 "Classic hypodermic needle bondage cover"

GA #1 Keys (yes, there are exceptions) - Green Lantern 1, All Select 1

Photo Cover - Camp Comics 2

Story - Vault of Horror 36 has "classic opium addict story" (not cover)

Entire Run- Both Mask Comics 1 and 2 are both classic covers

Puzzler - Living Bible 3

Anybody with other interesting observations?

I like (as in, it shows how ridiculous Overstreet can be) some of the Charlton and ACG comments in the Overstreet.

Forbidden Worlds 65 "'There's a New Moon Tonight" listed in 114 as holding 1st record fan mail response"

Forbidden Worlds 114 - 1st Herbie cover, contains list of editors top 20 ACG stories.

Unknown Worlds 3 - "The People vs Hendricks by Craig", most popular ACG story ever.

Tim Holt 37 Ghost Rider classic "To touch is to die", about Inca Treasure

Tomb of Dracula 19 Blade discovers he is immune to vampires bite. 1at mention of Blade having vampire blood.

and on and on.

Just let me know how to get a comment like this on a $10 book please.
