How do they lock the place down at night. How do you keep your board books safe from theft. And please don't post a picture of Chuck's entourage. :baiting:

The guy in the shades is Tupenny Schwarzenegger. Arnold's younger brother. He is my security. He stays with the booth all night. When no one else is around, he dresses up in Arnold's Conan outfit and polishes his battle axe. Woe to the man or woman who sees that.

Have to say that security at this con was absolutely top notch. I've been to pretty much every major con in the US now and I've never seen strict security like this con.

They scan every badge with a UV light looking for fakes as you walk in.

You can only enter through certain doors at certain times of the day even though the con center has 100's of doors.

There is a 1st check point at the con outdoor entrance and then again once you enter the pavilion (con room) from the hallway (UV light check both times).

Finally, when the con is over at the end of the day security pushes everyone out that does not have an exhibitor badge.

Also, if you are not wearing a badge of some sort on the con floor you are asked to produce it or escorted out.

You can only get a badge with photo ID and it's $100 for a replacement if yours is lost.

They don't mess around with security.

I hear Tupenny sleeps with one eye open, and the eyelids rotate the toothpick on their own.

Security is absolutely staggering at this show. That said, they severely dress-down the checks with anyone wearing an exhibitor badge. While there should certainly be less a need to monitor the activities of exhibitors, many badges are sold to non-exhibitors who don't adhere to the do unto others principle, much less recognize dealer camaraderie, if such a thing even exists in the cutthroat environment that the comic hobby has become.

Man, only a total would take the time to ..........oh, uh...never mind.
If by *spoon* you mean faithful honorary employee, then yes. Otherwise, it took 30 secs in Excel.

I'd be more impressed if the issues were listed numerically within each title. :baiting:

Plus Dale didn't list any of the books that I purchased.

He doesn't record the crap.

Or the junk

Great report Dale

What was the overall take on the show sales wise. Both from your perspective and the other dealers you talked to. Up,down, about the same as most years?

Sales were great. Not my best San Diego ever, but probably 2nd best. Of course, I am sure that is because I had the legend in my booth. That or dumb luck.

Tupenny or Greggy? hm

uh, well Tupenny is only a legend in his own mind, so I guess Greggy. By the way, I am now starting a campaign to change his official board name to Canadian Juggernaut.

Was he wearing a goofy helmet bolted to his neck?

I may have only been there Thursday and Friday but Dale's Booth was definitely "the place to be". It was where the cool kids were hanging out that's for sure!

As for Tupenny's Silver Surfer #5 he remarked to me that after pressing it could very well be 9.8 - what a gem.

Speaking of gems Dale's whole booth is full of books that I would love to have in my collection. He has a raw ASM #17 that is absolutely kick . His Captain Marvel #25 CGC 9.8 is a thing of beauty too.

Deal. Next year I'll set up a trip to the Coronados or La Jolla for us.

All those consecutive days of showering, so out of place for a Comic Con. Didn't you get the memo? :baiting:

I wish the con would provide each dealer and attendee a bar of soap, a stick of deodorant, a toothbrush, and some mouthwash. Would make it a much nicer place to be.
