How do they lock the place down at night. How do you keep your board books safe from theft. And please don't post a picture of Chuck's entourage. :baiting:

Nice wall!!

i'm curious, as i don't know all the etiquette at comic con, as to whether it's okay to walk back and look at the books on the wall up close without asking permission. or are we supposed to be guided back there? same for the box of books you two are in front of. anyway, that picture now refreshes my memory. you had tons of beautiful books, but alas no GL 87 or raw Detective Comics i needed.

Actually there was a 9.4 slabbed GL #87 on the top row in the corner, along with a 9.6 of both 85, 86.

I can't speak for other people. I generally prefer if people ask me or are invited before walking back, but not a huge deal. I would think good etiquette would be to ask first, and to always ask for help before taking a book off the wall.

Glad to see you still have the Adventure 247...I still hold out hope :wishluck:

Hope buys nothing.....

Start holding out some cash and maybe we will talk.

Silver, I was looking at the last post and happened to see this. Might not have come out with the same "tone" that I intended. Was trying to be witty, not snippy. Sorry if it came across that way.

Most dealers are happy when serious customers want to see their wall books.

They are there to sell not display in a museum. It is always a good idea to ask for a closer look at the books as they are expensive and a dealer needs to control the situation.

When I sell at shows I watch for people who are scanning my wall books and ask them if they want to come behind.

Have to say that security at this con was absolutely top notch. I've been to pretty much every major con in the US now and I've never seen strict security like this con.

They scan every badge with a UV light looking for fakes as you walk in.

You can only enter through certain doors at certain times of the day even though the con center has 100's of doors.

There is a 1st check point at the con outdoor entrance and then again once you enter the pavilion (con room) from the hallway (UV light check both times).

Finally, when the con is over at the end of the day security pushes everyone out that does not have an exhibitor badge.

Also, if you are not wearing a badge of some sort on the con floor you are asked to produce it or escorted out.

You can only get a badge with photo ID and it's $100 for a replacement if yours is lost.

They don't mess around with security.

Security is absolutely staggering at this show. That said, they severely dress-down the checks with anyone wearing an exhibitor badge. While there should certainly be less a need to monitor the activities of exhibitors, many badges are sold to non-exhibitors who don't adhere to the do unto others principle, much less recognize dealer camaraderie, if such a thing even exists in the cutthroat environment that the comic hobby has become.

with 120k in attendance, they really have ppl going around checking for badges, crazy.

Tupenny needs the shades because the cover gloss and colors on some of Dale's books is so darn nice that you're bound to go blind if you stare too long. The ASM #17 just to the right of Dale's head is a wickedly beautiful book and when I held it the cover gloss and colors nearly blinded me! Having that book in a slab would actually be an injustice for the first few weeks of owning it. You really have to hold it to admire its godliness.
