Cincinnati Comic Expo Sig Opportunities - Moore , Heath , Bellman , Anderson

265 posts in this topic

In conjunction with the Cincinnati Comic Expo and CGC we are excited to announce that we will be an Authorized CGC Signature Series Facilitator for the show. We will have an unlimited number of slots open for Russ Heath, Allen Bellman and Tony Moore. The Expo takes place on September 18, 2010.

Russ Heath

(THIS IS RUSS HEATH’S ONLY SHOW SINCE MAY 2009. HE HAS NO OTHER EVENTS PLANNED FOR 2010 or 2011. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY.)

Born in New York in 1926, Russ Heath joined Timely in 1946, where he began drawing for several different genres but particularly westerns, including Arizona Kid, Two-Gun Kid, and Kid Colt Outlaw. Heath went on to draw science fiction stories for Avon, romance stories for Lev Gleason, and Plastic Man for Quality. In the early 1950s, he worked on such EC titles as Mad and Frontline Combat for editor Harvey Kurtzman, with whom he also worked on Trump.

During the 1950s, he worked for DC/National, where he drew for the full range of adventure features, such as "Golden Gladiator" and "Robin Hood" in Brave and the Bold. But he was particularly noted for drawing war titles such as Sea Devils, Our Army at War (Sgt. Rock), and G.I. Combat ("The Haunted Tank"). From 1981 to 1984, he worked on a revived version of The Lone Ranger for the New York Times Syndicate. In 1991 he drew the official adaptation of the movie version of The Rocketeer. Since then, Heath has spent most of his time in the animation industry.

Allen Bellman

(THIS IS ALLEN’S FIRST COMIC SHOW IN THE REGION. DO NOT MISS OUT)

Allen Bellman was born in Manhattan and studied at the High School of Industrial Arts. He eventually became a staff artist at Timely during the Golden Age of comics. While still a teenager, he did the backgrounds for Syd Shores' Captain America in 1942, and eventually worked on titles such as: The Patriot, The Destroyer, The Human Torch, Jap Buster Johnson and Jet Dixon of the Space Squadron, All Winners Comics, Marvel Mystery, Sub Mariner Comics, Young Allies and so much more.

His self-created back-up crime feature Let's Play Detective. He also contributed to pre-Code horror, crime, war and western tales for Atlas.

He worked in the comics field until the early 1950s. After the publishing business Allen became a successful businessman, and after 18 years he moved down here to South Florida where he joined the art department of a major daily newspaper, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. After that he went into photography. He won many nationwide photography contests, winning out more than 20,000 entries. Photography is the way he now creates. Hundreds of his photos have appeared in hardcover books, have been on exhibit in museums in Florida and received great reviews in numerous newspapers.

He still attends comic books shows, and is still available for commissions. In one of his most recent interviews in the Miami Herald, he was described as an artist who now paints with his camera. For more about Allen, please check out www.allenbellman.com

Tony Moore

(WALKING DEAD, FEAR AGENT – TONY HAS BEEN VERY ELUSIVE AT COMIC APPEARANCES. THIS IS YOUR ONLY SIG SERIES OPPURTUNITY SINCE LAST YEAR’S WIZARD’S SHOW IN CHICAGO AND YOUR ONLY OPPORTUNITY THIS YEAR. DON’T MISS OUT!)

Tony is a small-town guy from Kentucky, raised by a pack of wild televisions. He has been a fan of comics before he could read, and seldom dreamed of becoming anything other than a comic book illustrator.

He has been in the business since 1999, when he started work on Battle Pope. Since then, he has lent his hands to books such as Masters of the Universe, Brit, the Eisner Award-nominated series The Walking Dead, and his own creator-owned books Fear Agent and The Exterminators

Murphy Anderson

Due to the sensitivity of the situation all Murphy Anderson Signature Series requests will be processed through Andrew Satterfield (Buck Biggins). Mr. Anderson will be signing for the fans at the show but general signatures will not be authorized for Signature Series approval.

However, in an effort to raise funds for Josh Meoders cancer treatment I have arranged a private signing with Murphy prior to the show for the CGC Signature Series. As with all the CGC private signings at the show each book signed will incur a fee. As of now, this is the only way to obtain a CGC Signature Series by Murphy Anderson at the Expo. The number of slots for this signing will be very limited and will have a strict limit of 1 book per person. A separate posting will be made available within 48 hours on this Murphy Anderson signing.

Again, he will be signing for fans in general and I do not anticipate him charging for signatures. The show will impose a 3 book limit per person.

Rumor has it...he will be providing a blank sketch cover to be donated into the charity auction. WOW!

TO PARTICIPATE:

1) Email a list of books you are sending for the signature series label to: andrew@cincinnaticomicexpo.com

2) Prep your books

If I'm going to be at the show, is a Contract Authorized Witness going to be available during the show or are all the signings going on outside of normal show hours? Basically, if I'm attending, do I have to send the books if I want them SS'd?

Cool opportunity! I'm not sure Tony Moore has made an appearance since last year's Cincinnati show.

Yes, we will have a Contract Authorized Witness at the show. Therefore, you will be able to have books signed and submitted under the CGC Signature Series program. Just hook up with us at an announced booth during the show.

The only exclusion is Murphy Anderson. Murphy Anderson sigs need to go though CGC.
