Is the color washed out on this one, or is it a trick of the scanner?

 

I looked at the book in hand and the steps are a varying color. The very bottom of the book is a scanner issue. I would have to see another copy to tell if there was any difference. I know the book has been in a bag in the dark since '84 so I can't believe it is washed out.

I forgot to mention that another neat affect in hand is the fade from blue to gray. The upper part of the cover has a blue hue to it that fades right at the blue of the flag to a gray. One of those subtle eye catchers that may not dawn on the viewer till later.
