Naw, he had them figured out from the get go. Just could not commit to the action without justification.

I'm of the same opinion. That's why him and Hershel lied right off the bat.

Indeed. They had to. Too many direct questions and unknown factors. Loved how it all went down.

I was actually reading on some other forums where folks condemned Rick's actions saying it was wrong etc. I was blown away, yes, Dave obviously attacked first justifing Rick's actions but they completely missed the direct questions and how things escalated when Rick refused to answer the questions and give up the group's location.

Exactly. On top of cop instincts. On top of the language and attitude they brought in through the door. These people were unknown and pushed to hard for info.

Yes sir, Not to mention Tony pissed on the floor of a Southern bar....which is a huge no no in the South (tsk)

Sorry, couldn't resist :)

I'm thinking that's a huge no no anywhere outside a frat house.

Went to Hollywood Theatre again because buddys still out of town. Dumbazz DJ "hosting" big screen showing said that it was great to watch evil rednecks get shot in reference to Tony and Dave. Audience loved it. Problem: Tony and Dave are from Philly or Jersey. Nice. Stick to your day job DJ.

Liked episode a lot though it needed longer commercials

Raise your hand on the show if you still like Shane. Andrea, that hand doesn't count because where it's been. Anyone else?

OMG YES! 18 min in and this is already the best episode this season!

There was only one minor BS scene between Rick and Lori---every communication had a purpose and meaning and they didn't F around with the action. Easily one of the best TWD episode YET. Please--if the show's reading this thread---YOU'VE FOUND YOUR GROOVE.

Yea, now we are moving! The way Rick just said screw it and un-stuck homeboys leg was pretty money! I was surprised that Hershal was so quick to just ending the guys life.... I think he is onboard now for sure.

Was it just me or was the sneak peak of Ricks bloodletting zombie kill in the next episode freakin awesome! All in all we are moving again and it feels oh so nice....

Just like the comic in that way, isn't it?

Several issues/episodes of character development, making you understand and care about them, then a flurry of action, danger, death....and then we move to the next arch.

And in case anyone was wondering how the Zombie Apocalypse starts...I am going with this:

First "Test Tube" Hamburger Ready This Fall.

The world's first "test-tube" meat, a hamburger made from a cow's stem cells, will be produced this fall, Dutch scientist Mark Post told a major science conference on Sunday.

Post's aim is to invent an efficient way to produce skeletal muscle tissue in a laboratory that exactly mimics meat, and eventually replace the entire meat-animal industry.

The ingredients for his first burger are "still in a laboratory phase," he said, but by fall "we have committed ourselves to make a couple of thousand of small tissues, and then assemble them into a hamburger."

Post, chair of physiology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, said his project is funded with 250,000 euros from an anonymous private investor motivated by "care for the environment, food for the world, and interest in life-transforming technologies."

Post spoke at a symposium titled "The Next Agricultural Revolution" at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Vancouver.

Speakers said they aim to develop such "meat" products for mass consumption to reduce the environmental and health costs of conventional food production.

Conventional meat and dairy production requires more land, water, plants and disposal of waste products than almost all other human foods, they said.

The global demand for meat is expected to rise by 60 percent by 2050, said American scientist Nicholas Genovese, who organized the symposium.

"But the majority of earth's pasture lands are already in use," he said, so conventional livestock producers can only meet the booming demand by further expansion into nature.

The result would be lost biodiversity, more greenhouse and other gases, and an increase in disease, he said.

In 2010 a report by the United Nations Environment Program called for a global vegetarian diet.

"Animal farming is by far the biggest ongoing global catastrophe," Patrick Brown of the Stanford University School of Medicine told reporters.

"More to the point, it's incredibly ready to topple ... it's inefficient technology that hasn't changed fundamentally for millennia," he said.

"There's been a blind spot in the science and technology community (of livestock production) as an easy target."

Brown, who said he is funded by an American venture capital firm and has two start-ups in California, said he will devote the rest of his life to develop products that mimic meat but are made entirely from vegetable sources.

He is working "to develop and commercialize a product that can compete head on with meat and dairy products based on taste and value for the mainstream consumer, for people who are hard-core meat and cheese lovers who can't imagine ever giving that up, but could be persuaded if they had a product with all taste and value."

Brown said developing meat from animal cells in a laboratory will still have a high environmental cost, and so he said he will rely only on plant sources.

Both scientists said no companies in the existing meat industry have expressed interest.

Yes very similar.... I think its been said before but the translation of pacing from book to screen has been handled well by all parties involved.

Now for those that have problems with the shows pacing... The difference is in the books you can read through the slow development parts relatively quickly where as with the show the pace is made more glacial because of the wait between episodes, commercials, and such...

I read the trades so I burn through a couple of issues at a time. I know many people DVR a couple of episodes at a time and then watch together which might help with the pacing for some people. I just cannot wait long enough to build up a couple of episodes.....

Did anyone notice how freakin close that bullet strike was to Hershal in the bar? I think it hit a post and must have missed his head by inches... I think the old man is growing on me! All the scenes in the bar have been great, Glens self doubt is a refreshing story arch for me as well. He has always been so confident in his dealing with walkers and missions.... Shooting living people isnt so easy Glen, a part of you has to die I think to do it.

My father served in Vietnam and has talked to me about what it is like to fire weapons with the intent of killing. Its not an easy thing to do, and a part of your humanity dies when doing it. You have to come to terms with the action.... Glens blaming of his girl is just stupid, he should have kept it to himself. Dudes lucky to have a hottie in a post zombie apocalypse, the last thing I would be doing is making her question her love for me. 2c
