It was fun to re-read this thread.....

 

No, the collection was not purchased. I drive through the area from time to time and wonder what's going to happen to the collection. The guy was pretty old, and not in good health. I was told after the fact that he does have some good silver and gold material socked away in the house. It will be interesting in the future if this needs to be moved through an estate sale. I have no idea what they would do to sell it. Thanks again to all that chimed in. Very good advice.

Heh. After reading this thread, I am so glad I got out of comics when I did. Same with sports cards, although I did get burned a little in recent years due to the fall of the steroid monkeys like Bonds and Clemens. Still, no where as bad as it could have been if I had stuck with it.
