Here I am looking for beauty and the beast or the cowardly lion across the 'modern' spectrum, thinking Scrooge would try to appease the modern crowd.

That's funny that you said that. I thought the same thing .

 

I initially looked up Wizard of Oz, comparing Scrooge's image to the covers when it dawned on me that it wasn't a lion.

 

Fortunately I remembered the Shadow cover's image, although I couldn't recall where I'd seen it; just that I thought it was a Street and Smith pub. I checked Doc Savage and then Shadow.

So 13 of your 26 have been Golden Age then, is that correct? 50%? That's too much for guys like me - under 60

The rest have not all been GA, some have been Atom Age or even '60's but, yeah, old foggies like me, we like our book with character, not some of that new stuff. Comic Code. Bah! Feh!
