What a book (Pt 2!!!!!)

I didn't say that I've seen lots of NM copies. What I said is that the census is not the entire universe of comics in existence. CGC has only been around for a few years, and there are still quite a few high grade collectors who have not paid the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars it would cost to get all of their high grade comics slabbed, especially if they have no plans to sell the books. With five slabbed copies in 9.0 or better in the census, if I had to guess, my guess would be that there are at least a dozen copies of that book in existence that are 9.0 or above, and probably a few more than that, with the majority of them unslabbed in private collections. In fact, until fairly recently, that 9.4 for sale on Comiclink wasn't slabbed or in the census, and people were arguing about whether there were any 9.4s in existence. There are quite a few major collectors who do not like the idea of spending a crapload of money to slab all of their books just for the sake of bolstering the census. If the 9.4 sells for anywhere near $40K, I would put good money on there being a few more 9.4s unearthed within the next 18 months.

You've seen lots of NM copies of this book? I'd have a hard time believing there's many more copies of this book in anything above 9.0. Sure there might be 1-2 more NM but this is an incredibly tough Marvel.

I know of at least 1 other who has an unslabbed copy in NM/NM+. And he's had it for 15 years or more. And yes, the book is not an overgraded pre-CGC NM. There may not be many out there, but there are probably more than you think.

go over to his house and take a look at it again. If you havent seen it in 15 years I guarantee you it isnt a 9.4 in todays standards.
