Have you tried sending them a copy of your invoice showing your shipping address?

I'll email a copy to Bree (sp?) this afternoon. Thanks, Jim. I'd give you a hug, but others might get jealous.

It's OK, you can have him.

I am not yours to give away. :sumo:

Pffft. Shows what you know.

I think he'll clear waivers.

Come and listen to my story 'bout a book called Avengers #4...

------------------------

Aug 2010: Cracked out my Avengers #4 CGC 7.0 and had it signed by Stan Lee at the Toronto Fan Expo. Witnessed by Sharon from Desert Wind.

Same day: Sharon suggested that I could also get Joe Simon to sign it. She would be seeing Joe at NYCC in October. I paid Sharon for the Simon sig, and for the Express CGC service and shipping.

October 25: wrote to Sharon & Chandler to find out the status of my book. Sharon wrote back to say that CGC showed the book as "on hold". She wasn't sure if CGC had sent it back to them for signing by Simon at NYCC, or if it was somehow missed, but she'd investigate ASAP. Worst case, if Joe hadn't signed it at NYCC, they could get him to sign it next January.

October 27: wrote back to Sharon to let her know that I checked my credit card records, and Desert Wind had charged my card a week earlier for the signature, shipping and CGC fees. She replied to say that if my card was charged, then she was 99% certain it was signed. But she would check with CGC right away and get back to me.

October 28: I called CGC myself and verified that it was signed by Simon and was in the midst of being entered into the system for grading.

November 8: I called CGC to get the grade on my book and find out when it would ship to me. They said it received a 7.0 grade (same as before - yay!), but that the slab was sitting in their safe awaiting approval from Desert Wind to release it. I emailed Sharon to ask her to call/email CGC ASAP so they could ship it to me.

November 10: Two days later, Chandler wrote back to say that he was emailing Joe at CGC "right now" to tell him to release it.

November 17: I called CGC again. The book was still sitting in the safe. They said that no one from Desert Wind had contacted them, and the invoice showed Desert Wind's address as the shipping address. They needed Desert Wind to send them my shipping info. I said that the copy of the invoice that I had clearly had my shipping address on it, but they insisted that their invoice only had Desert Wind's info. (I assume when they entered the paper invoice info into the computer, they didn't enter my shipping address.)

November 17: After I got off the phone with CGC, I emailed Desert Wind to ask them once again to contact CGC and get them to release the book. I included my shipping info in the email.

November 17: Chandler wrote back within the hour and asked for my shipping info (!!) and said he would personally call CGC that afternoon and tell them to ship the book.

November 19: I called CGC. No one from Desert Wind had contacted them about the book. It's still sitting in the safe. Still waiting for Desert Wind to tell them to release it.

November 19: I wrote to Desert Wind again. This time I got their vacation "out of office" automated reply: "We will be gone from Nov. 18th through Nov. 28th. We will be unable to check e-mail or return phone calls until we return home."

I have no way of knowing who has or hasn't contacted whom, so I'm not picking sides. But regardless of who is at fault, balls have definitely been dropped. Repeatedly.

As far as the contact situation Have Desert Wind CC you on the e-mail they send to CGC for release and ask for a reply to all so you then have hard copy proof

Did you pay for shipping?

Did DWC have this as a hold in the safe or pick up?

Is it your name and mailing address on the invoice?

Reason I ask is I submit many books for others. I put their contact information on the form and thats the last I see of the books until I get an email stating they have been shipped.I can't imagine DWC has them all shipped back to him and then he ships them out to the rightful owner.

If your name and mailing address is on the receipt (green copy) the book should go to you. I don't understand the reason for the hold.

At a minimum, DWC or CGC should reimburse you the difference in grading tier. They killed the whole reason to have the book expedited.

Thanks Joey.

• Yes, I paid for shipping. Credit Card was charged for grading and shipping about 3 weeks ago.

• DWC said they don't know why it was on hold in CGC's safe.

• My name and mailing address is on the green invoice in the SHIP TO area. I filled it out myself. But everyone I talked to at CGC (two different women and a man) said that the invoice only had DWC's info for shipping. I assume they were looking at the computer info, and not the original hand written invoice.

• I asked DWC about a partial reimbursement of the grading fee. They said that because the book is valued at more than $1K, it would have to go on Express service, and the cost for this service was more to do with the value of the book than the speed of the service. So they weren't willing to do any kind of reimbursement. But I will ask CGC.

Can anyone shoot me Gemma's email address in a PM?

------------------

Oh, and meanwhile, a fellow boardie & friend also had his Avengers #4 signed by Stan at the Toronto con, and by Joe at NYCC, then sent to CGC for slabbing... and he's already put his book up on Ebay and has sold it (as you know, Joey).

Nope. Same invoice. Same invoice number.

Anyway, I scanned the invoice and sent it to Bree, and now I've also sent it to Gemma. I spoke to Bree earlier, and she seemed to think that if she had my scan of the invoice, they'd be able to ship the book.

I'll follow up with Gemma on Monday.

IF DWC used their own forms (which they do by computer) it could have been placed as coming to them instead (the can type in an invoice # onto their paperwork to match the carbon copy CGC form). Remember, there has to be a reason 3 different people are telling you the same story all without talking to each other about it. Odds are the book does need to be released to DWC or the address shown is DWCs address.

If the book said your address and that was where it needed to be shipped then why would CGC not ship it, especially after being called by you and by DWC? If Chandler has called them and emailed them numerous times then why has it not been shipped?

I would say you need to keep in contact with DWC on this, as they were the faciliator for this signing. CGC has the book and when they are told to release it they will, but it is on DWC right now, so keep in touch with them.

I have had similar experiences when submitting through Desert Wind. I have found that the books always show up at some point however the communication might need a little improvement. They really never answer my 1st or 2nd inquires about a submission and not one time have they ever gotten back with info that I could take to CGC to follow up with, even after months of asking what's going on and inquiring about an invoice number...

I am still waiting on a book and/or invoice number I was promised but have yet to receive. I have been told the same things, first it's been submitted, then I should have already received it, then it's on hold then it should have been released then they will need to talk to CGC again, then they don't know what's going on and last I heard it was finally going to be released and fast tracked in mid September and then instead I was told that somehow it showed up in New York at the NYCC and then was submitted there...At this point I am still waiting (shrug)

Now that said, I have submitted through them a handful of times and while up-to-date info isn't usually easy to get, they most always deliver in the end. And in their defense DWC has stated that the issue is not with them but with CGC because of the busy convention season and the SS director being out of town a lot with shows. They said they too are inquiring but not getting info and stuff isn't being done as requested. So who knows what's going on but hopefully it all works out for both of us soon. :wishluck:
