"Fried" Mile High Fiction House Books

7 posts in this topic

Hasn't Mr. Bedrock mentioned on the boards elsewhere that some of these books were kept in an attic in the South for an extended period of time and the heat in there basically affected and thus "fried" the books as per Matt. Or was Mr. Bedrock talking about some other than MH FH books. Run a search and with luck and a prayer you might find the quote in the archive.

Matt's quote was an example of generalization.

Recap - All of the Mile High Fiction House were originally purchased from Chuck by Burrel Rowe. He already had a complete Fiction House collection and upgraded to the Mile Highs in most instances, though some of his original collection were better copies. Those dupes were sold off in the late seventies. In 1981 he started selling off his collection. Most of the collection actually sold during this time. But some of the late run Jungles, Jumbos, runs like Kaanga and Wambi, and a few of the odds and ends did not sell. The remainder of his collection was locked up in an un-airconditioned garage apartment for a number of years before eventually being sold off to a local comic dealer here in Houston. Those remaindered books are quite brown.
