Who drew the most covers...

First one popped into my head for Marvel was Terry Austin. hm

First one I thought of was Joe Sinnott.

I thought of Sinnott too but I bet Frank Giacoci has got to be up there.

Nice one - Frank is leading the pack so far:

Frank Giacoia - 717

Joe Sinnott - 517

Terry Austin - 187

Ok Prodigy, you have been nominated as keeper of the inker lists! (worship)

Sounds like fun:)

Working on it right now.

I would think Stan Goldberg had many covers in the bronze age. However, they are for Archie and not Marvel or DC.

I was wondering about this - in the general sense of Archie covers, not being knowledgeable enough as to who the most prolific illustrators of such would be. Was there a similar go to guy for Harvey as well?

For Archie, it's probably Dan DeCarlo.

Good call, Doc. DeCarlo should be a no-brainer.

Dan Adkins? hm

Yep I would think he should be high on the list. Tom Palmer was fairly prolific for Marvel during that time. And Klaus Janson.

Tom Palmer. (thumbs u

Then there's Mike Esposito, Ernie Chan (both Marvel and DC), Bob Waicek, and Dave Cockrum.

Edit: doh! Forgot Joe Rubinstein.

Good names - Have we mentioned Al Milgrom?

One of the only four Archie artists I could name. (Montana,DeCarlo,Lucey, and Goldberg. :gossip: I wouldn't have known Goldberg before this thread. I knew he took over for DeCarlo on Millie, but I didn't know about Archie. ) I have no idea who else worked on the strip.

Not sure if I may have missed it, but did anyone mention Sal Buscema for the most cover pencils and/or inks? Name just about any Marvel title in the Bronze Age, and Sal probably did some covers for it.

The brothers Buscema would be a good call.

It looks like Prodigy should run all the guys on the pencil lists through comics.org as inkers to see what they did, then boardies can help figure out the stragglers that were not really cover artists, like Austin who is only on the inkers list. Most of the names I'm seeing suggested are already on the pencil lists. :baiting:

How well indexed are Bronze Age Archie pubs on the GCD? The company must have put out at least a couple thousand books between 1970 -1984
