Someone please explain to me CEREBUS #300 (SPOILERS)

Anyway I havent read all 300 issues.....so the ending confused me. Cerebus was excited to see all his old friends and jumped toeward the light, and then he imagined someones face. and he didnt wanna go to the light anymore??
