Green Lantern #48 is the first appearance of Kyle Rayner. It's also the 10th anniversary of Kyle Rayner... so the buzz may not be about Hal Jordan but about the fact that the new Green Lantern has been around for 10 years but is still viewed as a "pretender to the throne."

 

On a side note, I've been selling a stack of these things raw and in near mint.. and the only guy I remember buying a copy was none other than Kevin Dooley, the editor on the book at the time of the switch from Hal Jordan to Kyle Rayner. (LA Creation Con last year)

 

He said it paid for someone's boat. (either an artist or the writer)
