It wasn't an attempt at humor at all. I was just pointing out that, in fact, it was his right knee and not his left knee. I'm sure Jim was thinking left because it is on the left side of the comic. But it really is his right knee and that's where the long crease started. Jim saying it was his left knee may have confused some people who might go back, look at the scan at his left knee and think "what crease?".
