Seem to be the hardest years for marvels for me to find raw in NM/M. Am i alone? (shrug)

 

The gatefolds and the "flaky" cover stock are a real beast, even for books that were stored pretty well.

Don't forget the smaller print runs. Fewer copies available basically equals fewer high grade copies, as well.

What years did Marvel do the X-Men Deluxe books? Must have been right around the Phalanx Covenant and the whole Age of Apocalypse miniseries.

 

Do collectors prefer the cheaper newsstand versions to the more expensive foil versions? Are the cheaper newsstand variants harder enough to find that they've got higher collector value?
