Grendel Versus Argent Epic Battle

9 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

Back in 1982 a little comic came out called Comico Primer. Among a couple other things, it introduced Matt Wagner and his creation Grendel (and Argent) to the mainstream collector. Prior to Grendel, it was only Cerebus and maybe Flaming Carrott, until the Turtles pushed the B&W field further. As such, Grendel was a real trailblazer, and perhaps one of the most fascinating characters that still "works" today.

Most of you know I'm a huge fan, and own several of the covers. But, these pages are special. All large art, beautifully drawn (despite what Matt thinks), and really classic in my opinion. Happy to own the final 3 pages of that 10 page story, with the complete battle sequence betweeen the two characters.

Hope you enjoy them. Big time nostalgia for me on these!

Pages 8-10 of the Grendel story from Comico Primer #2:
