Round 8 is truly great! The Boardies will vote, narrowing things down a bit in these preliminary rounds. Eventually we will have a favorite SA/BA Neal Adams vintage cover champion! :acclaim:

This round showcases the final 26 Adams covers (3 with gargoyles!) from 1970 in chronological order (for the most part).

:whee:

This is possibly the finest set of covers included in any round so far! Many fan favorites here in this group. I predict a couple of these may challenge for the overall title, but that is for the boardies to decide. Vote count remains at 7.

Pick what you love, not what you think is popular.

Don't be shy with your comments. Let's hear why you made your choices. Influencing others with commentary is encouraged. :gossip:

The polls are still open in these previous preliminary rounds. Please visit them and vote if you have not:

Round 7 (1970 Continued)

Round 6 (1970 Begins)

Round 2 (1968 Continued)

I think the colors on HOM 189 are my favorite of any Adams horror cover, the subtle shades in the hand & water are incredible, and popped out against that gorgeous turquoise sky. The Phantom Stranger #10 is an Equal to HOS88 in my book, very evocative, and nice texture effects.

EASILY the hardest round. TEC #395 is going to get buried, and it doesn't deserve too, the competition is much stiffer this time. I think it's down to BATS227 and HOS88, but so many others are incredible too.

I still say automatic into the finals lol. Come on guys TEC 395 ?!

Tec #395 will advance from 1970, no worries. Who did the repro-covers in your sig line? Got bigger photos? :baiting:

So many stunning covers, so few votes

HOS 88 is a stunner, as are several of the other Horror/mystery covers.

Now, is it just me or did the two Thor covers a bit lackluster? In all fairness, it seems as though the first one has Marie Severin's hands all over it so perhaps she made alterations during the production process? Anyone have details on this?

Comics.org has some more details. Adams claims to have had a hand in doing some pencils on both covers, but they sure don't look like his work, hence the lack of votes. (shrug)

A much, much stronger set of covers this time when compared to those in the two previous 1970 rounds.

House of Secrets 88

House of Mystery 189

Phantom Stranger 10

Batman 227

PS 10 and JLA 86.

:sumo:

:frustrated::screwy:

You are soooooo mainstream Adams.

Actually, many of my selections are going down like the Titanic. Remember my DC Special #4 and Challenger's 72? :olol

Stranger #10 doesn't look like Neal to me (but I do like the see-through night gown). The JLA 86 is pretty cool I must admit.

Someone needs to quiz Neal and Kaluta on the Blonde they used, who is she?

To me, the figurework / design in Adams' Green Lantern 81 cover looks very similar indeed to that in many of Alex Ross' covers and art prints.
