Restored Comics - Are they worth sending to CGC?

7 posts in this topic

For me it would depend on:

1. what you planed to do with the book.

2. The condition of the Book.

3. The restored value of the book.

4. Issue and Title

If we are talking about a Batman #1 that you plan to sell, I say yes. If this is a Batman #197 that you plan to sell I say no.

Now if we are talking about a book that you want to protect and hold onto as part of your collection then it really doesn't mater what the book is worth it comes down to preference.

Restored CGC books do have a stigma attached to them, but at least you know the extent of the restoration. Buying raw books listed as restored can some times be a shaky proposition unless a professional did the work and a certificate is included.

Thank you for the insight. I have a couple of fairly early X-Men comics (#17, #19), but the condition I would say is only fine, so I do not believe I will pay the price to have them graded. Thanks again!

I own a restored comic I bought because it was a 1) nice copy 2) the issue I was looking for and 3)a price which was fair at the time. "CGC restored Amazing Spider-man #9 at a graded of VF- 7.5.Main reason would be as a True Collector of something I like........ thumbsup2.gif
