Is Batman 227 the "key" Neal Adams Batman book to have?

I agree completely. The classic Adams' covers have a timeless aesthetic.

The fact that the last 9.8 sold for $42K is also very telling. The issue is highly sought after and is perceived as a solid investment.

I remember bidding on this book when it came to market on Comiclink.  I thought I put in a wildly high bid of $1650.00.  If I remember correctly it sold for 2k, which was close to double the FMV for a non pedigree.   In hindsight, that 2k spent by someone turned out to be a great buy.
