I went to the Pittsburgh show and here is what I found....

Not a SINGLE HOM#236 in the room!

HOM#190 was missing in almost every box while 189 & 191 were always there. I saw 2, one VFNM, the other was a VF

Ghosts was the most understocked title, with HOM & Witching hour being the most complete runs.

Gold key horror was almost nonexistant

Charltons were here & there, but weak. A few VFish ones.

NO ghosts #105s anywhere, or 106 for that matter. No HOS 137's or 139s

Overall 20 & 25 centers were everywhere, late 70's were almost always missing.

Prices were all over from a few bucks for nice ones to $60+ for nice ones.

More if I think of it.....

Thanks Shivvy, I like those kinds of reports. What'd ya' get? I've seen the same thing at all the cons regarding pricing. Everything from 9.0-9.4s priced high in mylars from certain dealers to the same books in crusty old bags and boards selling for cheapo. It always pays to shop around. Of course the high priced versions for $40 always "look" better in the mylars, but don't pass on the "same" crusty bag books for $8. That's where I have found some of my best deals.

Don't be surprised when you see certain books gone when other surrounding issues are abundant. It's all about the cover. I only buy books with cool covers. I'd rather have five copies of X with a cool cover than one each of ABCD with lamo covers. Not that they are really lame, but if it's got an Adams or Wrightson cover, I want multiples, Kaluta is hit and miss, many others I don't even care if I have one.

cool. Thanks for the info!

I'm trying to get a name of the dealers for the Charlotte Comic Con so I can see what kind of content they are taking to the show. "pre order" if you will.

I personally don't understand why sellers can't step it up in terms of presentation. I vividly recall one seller at a con that was selling literally junk (missing covers, etc), had a crappy looking setup and was overcharging to boot. Marketing 101 please folks...

And Sid, I've seen some killer books in those crusty bags, but my initial thought is to run away from the freaks of nature... tongue.gif

I hit the motherload of crusty bags in Dallas.

Some sweet books were inside. cloud9.gif

Not surprising. They don't near get the attention of the DCs/Marvels. Which is good for me... grin.gif

I was visiting brother & friends in pittsburgh so I timed it for the show.

I bought VFNM HOM190, UNEX175, UNEX177 both around VFNM, WWAR #39, 64, 69, 72, 93 all in VFNM to NM-, WEIRD MYSTERY TALES #11, 13 in VFNM to NM-, GI COMBAT #255 in NM+, a new favorite thanks to the boards! "OMIGOD Thats JEB!" and thats about it, slim pickins!
