I've bought some raw Rosas from B Storms and they are very nice. I would say they were CGC candidates. What was the criteria Steve used in sending (or not sending) in the books he did? It wasn't a pre-screen for a certain grade was it? Have to check out my winnings from tonight when I get them. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I agree--I actually have some Don Rosas from Bob that I've just sent to CGC (2 or 3 WWT books). I know Sid has had some success picking these up from Steve and getting decent 9.4 grades--which was the general cut off for Steve's submissions (he did sell a few 9.2s).

However, if you take the DR books from this batch and hold them up to what Steve was selling, something just looks amiss. My opinion though--and I'm not pointing fingers anywhere---just an observation. Maybe Steve didn't send these in because of the QP issues.

I can tell you that I did not see any of the BA horror raw and I was there right after Ewert in SD. Of course, it could have been part of the prescreen rejects that Steve said was going to be offered in Chicago. I'm sure that Bob Storms got a lot of the earlier HOM and HOS books from the prescreen pile. I can't see anyone else other than the Ewert/Brulato stock producing these books. They bought a whole long box at SD. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

So I think I dodge a bullet when I don't win the Ewert 9.8 B&TB 124 on ebay only to win this 9.6? foreheadslap.gif I may need a new hobby.

To clarify what I said above, when I said that I didn't see any of the BA Horror, I mean the copies that were just offered for sale. I still was able to get some nice BA horror but they were usually 9.2 max. tonofbricks.gif

Bob had a bunch of early HOM/HOS for sale on his website last August. (HOM #175-205 and HOS #84-116, somewhere in that range.) Most sold pretty fast.

There was sure some interesting sales on those Comiclink auctions.

Honestly I'm not shocked at the low price of the HOS 88 9.4 considering how ugly that book looked.

I only got one book Unexpected 124.

It was finally a decent looking issue without those common scratches running though the side of the book.

If you look at both the 9.6 and 9.0 copies you'll see a common printing error with the book.

acclaim.gif I have to have something in the spot of the 9.0 I sold you. Christo_pull_hair.gif

The QP is not the best, but it's that weird color loss? at the top of the book that worries me. Press job gone bad?

Well, I wanted to upgrade my hos 108 this go round. Doesn't look like that will happen. Heritage's copy this week is nasty--anyone see the impact ding to LLC and the crease URC? Looks like a 9.2 at best...none of the corners are sharp. My 9.4 looks much better than that POS. Maybe the press job doesn't last long...

Sigh.

What's going on folks?

By the way,

I got some DC Horror books going to CGC for grading in the next few weeks. Here is what I am hoping/expecting 893crossfingers-thumb.gif:

Withcing Hour 4 ---- 9.0 maybe 9.2. A 9.2 would make it single highest on census One yay.gif if it is a 9.0 but yay.gifyay.gifyay.gif if a 9.2

House of Mystery 190 ---9.0 at minium but more like a 9.2. Really want that 9.2 on this as that is the grade I focus on. This one gets yay.gifyay.gif

House of Mystery 188 ---- 9.2 at minium but a real good shot at 9.4/9.6. A 9.6 would make it the single highest on census. Gets yay.gifyay.gifyay.gif

Now that I posted this I hope they come through,. I'll update you all in June when I get them back.
