First Sci-Fi Comic Book Cover?

8 posts in this topic

After looking at my early run of Exciting Comics, I was curious if there is one comic book that is held as having the first true sci-fi cover. I guess it could be Action #1 as Supes is an alien but I doubt if many folks would be consider that a sci-fi cover.

I thought it might be a Buck Rogers cover on Famous Funnies but from what I could find - the first Buck cover was #82 dated 5/1941. Anything earlier than Exciting #1 is dated 4/1940. Buck Rogers #1 is dated Winter/1940 so Exciting is earlier.

Thanks for any help - it may be something obvious hm that I am overlooking.

New Fun #3 (1935).

Don Drake on the Planet Sard - would have never thought it was that early. It also reminded me of my All-American #8 which is earlier than the Exciting #1.

Is the New Fun #3 cover a strip reprint? If so, is there one that is considered an original comic book sci-fi cover?

Edit - I see it is All Original.

Thanks RHG for the info (thumbs u
