custom comic publishing?

I am currently working on my own comic book and was was wondering if anyone new any affordable places that could put together a professional looking comic with an initial print run of at least 500 copies? It is gonna be a simple process, i.e., I will have each page as a JPG on my computer--no huge slabs of original art, etc....I know LULU is a well know publishing co (they happen to be around 30 minutes from me) but I don't think they "make' comic books. Any suggestions from anyone? Anyone ever try this themselves?
