You're right, it is like a sub crease. You can see it on the back cover top to bottom, but on the front it seems to disappear

I have a copy of JIM 98 with a front cover subscription crease, but nothing on the back. Tragic! I wouldn't get it slabbed at that level.

 

#122 is a really good read, in any case. The Absorbing Man is a good antagonist
